Joselyn Sánchez Parra, Nació en Santo Domingo el 15 de marzo del 1977. Sus padres señor Bernando Sánchez Sánchez y Adela Parra Polanco. Casada con dos hijos.
Es egresada de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, UASD, con el título de Doctora en Medicina. Formada como Gineco-obstetra en el Hospital Militar Dr. Ramón de Lara y posee una subespecialidad en Endocrinología Ginecológica del Hospital Universitario Maternidad Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia.
Tiene una Maestría en Gerencia Moderna en Salud de la Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo, además ha realizado diplomados en Gestión de Servicios de Salud con Acompañamiento en los Centros Especializados, Gerencia en Salud Gestión efectiva para Competitividad, Gerencia Estratégica de Salud, Gestión de la Calidad Orientada a Resultados, Gestión de Procesos Humanización de los Servicios de Salud, Detención de Necesidades de Capacitación, entre otros.
Ocupó el cargo de subdirectora Médica en la Maternidad Nuestra señora de la Altagracia y fue Directora General del Hospital Materno Infantil San Lorenzo de Los Mina siendo la primera mujer que ha ocupado dicha posición desde su fundación. En la actualidad es la directora general del Hospital Universitario Maternidad Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia.
El Hospital Universitario Maternidad Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia
Fue inaugurado el 24 de octubre de 1949 y abierto al público el 24 de octubre de 1950, con el nombre de Hospital Maternidad Julia Molina. Un edificio de hormigón armado de cuatro plantas, construido a un costo de un millón de pesos, y con una capacidad de 400 camas y 300 cunas, el discurso de inauguración fue pronunciado por el Secretario de Estado de Salud Pública Dr. Manuel A. Robiu.
El Dr. Ángel Messina fue el primer director del Hospital y según el Dr. Alejandro Pichardo además el primer presidente de la Sociedad Dominicana de Obstetricia y Ginecología, cuya sede permaneció por más de 30 años en este centro. El Doctor Vinicio Calventi, ha sido el director de mayor trayectoria en nuestra institución permaneciendo como director de este hospital desde 1967 hasta 1998.
Según el Dr. Héctor Eusebio el Dr. Gilberto Herrera Báez, en comunicación del 5 de diciembre de 1961 dirigida al presidente de entonces Dr. Joaquín Balaguer solicitando el cambio de nombre por Hospital Maternidad Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, ejecutándose el cambio en 1961.
El primer parto en esta Maternidad fue asistido por el Dr. Reynaldo Almanzar Henríquez, quien había sido nombrado ese día como médico.
El Patronato Pro-Maternidad Nuestra señora de la Altagracia, según su actual presidenta la Sra. Gloria Mejía de Selman en diciembre de 1962 se realizó la primera reunión para la formación de este, el 17 de enero de 1972 se conformó la primera Junta Directiva presidida por Isa P. de Martínez, el 11 de febrero de 1977 se establece una nueva directiva encabezada por la Sra. Gloria Mejía de Selman, quien además preside el Consejo de Administración del Hospital.
El primero de julio de 1974 se inició el primer programa de formación de especialistas en el área de obstetricia de la República Dominicana, conformado por un grupo de médicos que trabajaban en el hospital como "residentes", quienes de acuerdo al tiempo de labores y la experiencia adquirida se distribuyeron las distintas categorías jerargicas que hoy conocemos, la Dra. Altagracia Marcano fue la primera egresada el 30 de junio de 1975. El primero de julio de 1975, ingresó el primer grupo de médicos residentes llamado oficialmente por concurso de la SESPAS. El 23 de octubre de 1976 la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo declaró a la Maternidad como Hospital Docente Universitario, mediante su resolución CM-76-264.
El Hospital Universitario Maternidad Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, ha sido un pilar en el desarrollo médico del país, formador de generaciones de especialistas de diversas áreas y prestador de servicios de calidad a millones de mujeres dominicanas y extranjeras que acuden en busca de nuestros servicios.
